Jim Barton Building, Plumbing and Electrical operate from St Helens as a father-and-son team. We extend our services into all parts of Cheshire, providing the discerning homeowner with loft conversions, garage conversions, bathroom refurbishments and extensions. Full property renovations in Cheshire are also available.
On this page, we answer some of the more frequent questions our company receives from new clients who are considering using our services for the first time:
What is the most common reason for undertaking property renovations?
This is a great question and one that’s individual to each of our Cheshire customers. Some homeowners opt for renovations if an older property has become harder or more expensive to maintain. Others might consider renovations if a property in Cheshire needs to be updated. Some will have purchased an older home with a view to renting it out. Whatever reasons you may have for considering renovations, we’ll be there to talk you through every stage of the job with our well-known brand of friendly service.
What options do I have when using you for bathroom refurbishments?
Again, this will be very much dependent on your personal needs and requirements. Full or partial bathroom refurbishments can be undertaken at your Cheshire property so, if you’re only looking to fit a new suite or shower enclosure, we’ll be able to help. If you’re going for a full finish, complete bathroom refurbishments are just as easy for us to accommodate. Don’t forget that we also design and build wet rooms, a service that’s particularly useful for disabled, elderly or infirm homeowners living in the Cheshire area.
How disruptive are loft conversions likely to be?
While there will always be a minor amount of disruption, most loft conversions are managed without affecting the lifestyles of our valued Cheshire customers. The majority of loft conversions will include the fitting or dormer or Velux windows so we’ll nearly always be able to bring tools and materials into your home through the roof aperture we create. If we do need to pass through your home, noise is kept to a minimum and dust sheets are laid down to prevent carpets and furniture from becoming soiled while we work.
Will garage conversions give me the extra space I need?
Almost certainly. Most property owners we encounter in the Cheshire area only have clutter in their garage anyway so our garage conversions always have the desired impact. The need for extra living space is something that affects most growing families in Cheshire and we consider garage conversions to be one of the best space-creating options available. An annex, or any other type of extension, will be more expensive and planning permission will be needed. Garage conversions are the simple, cost-effective way to boost living space.
